31 Days of Prayer – Day 20

Daily Prayer of Expectancy

left-behind-people-on-rapture-dayFather in heaven, great and powerful and full of love. I lift my heart in praise for the privilege of coming to You in prayer. Give me special grace as I join Your exalted Son in His ministry of prayer.

Search my heart, Lord, and show me if any sin is hindering Your work in my life. May I respond without delay whenever You make me conscious of sin. How grateful I am for Your total forgiveness the moment I confess my sin turning back to You as my Lord!

And Father, teach me to pray. How much I yearn to know Your will and Your way. I thank You that Your Son lives within me. What a joy to know that He is my teacher, that through Him I can learn to pray. I can learn to release Your boundless power for both my needs and the needs of many others, near and far. Teach me to pray.

Day by day may Your Spirit work in me, motivating me to abide in Christ and pray in faith, moving Your mighty hand to fulfill Your purposes. Keep reminding me that You are able to do infinitely more than I would ever dare to ask or imagine,  by Your mighty power at work within me.

To You be the glory both now and forever.

Pray For All Who Profess to be Christians

O my Strength, I will sing praise to You, for You, my loving God, are my strength, my fortress, my joy, my reward. I rejoice again in Your unlimited power and your many promises to answer prayer. My heart trusts You, and I am helped and deeply blessed.

Lord, how Your heart is grieved by the many people who seem to be Christians in name only, by the more than 1 billion nominal Christians in the world today. Have mercy on them, including the ones I know personally. Whether they are lukewarm believers or don’t know You at all, convince them of their sins and spiritual sicknesses, their empty ritualism, their compromise, their ignorance and indifference, their loving what gives them pleasure rather than truly loving You. Help them see that they have a mere form of godliness without the content.

Be gracious to them, Lord, so that in the end they will not lose everything they’ve lived for and receive no rewards. And draw those who don’t know You to Your Son so that in the end He will not have to say “I never knew You, depart from Me for your deeds are evil.”

Thank You, Father, for Your heart of compassion toward these people, though You hate their ways. I plead with You to work in their lives. Make them aware of Your deep longing to make them truly and wholly Yours. Deliver them from merely acting as if they know You. Bring them into true faith and a full commitment to Christ. Lead them into a warm, vital relationship with You. May Your Holy Spirit work in their lives, and in mine with mighty power, making us a glory to Your name.

Today, I pray these requests especially for ________________.
