Daily Prayer of Expectancy
Father in heaven, great and powerful and full of love. I lift my heart in praise for the privilege of coming to You in prayer. Give me special grace as I join Your exalted Son in His ministry of prayer.
Search my heart, Lord, and show me if any sin is hindering Your work in my life. May I respond without delay whenever You make me conscious of sin. How grateful I am for Your total forgiveness the moment I confess my sin turning back to You as my Lord!
And Father, teach me to pray. How much I yearn to know Your will and Your way. I thank You that Your Son lives within me. What a joy to know that He is my teacher, that through Him I can learn to pray. I can learn to release Your boundless power for both my needs and the needs of many others, near and far. Teach me to pray.
Day by day may Your Spirit work in me, motivating me to abide in Christ and pray in faith, moving Your mighty hand to fulfill Your purposes. Keep reminding me that You are able to do infinitely more than I would ever dare to ask or imagine, by Your mighty power at work within me.
To You be the glory both now and forever.
Pray for Love in the Church
Dear Father, the Source of every mercy, how I thank You that each of Your children is dear to You, as dear as Your own beloved Son!
You love us, even though we different in some of our doctrines and spiritual practices. you still love us even when we sin! Lord, how unworthy I am of such enduring love! How unworthy we all are! And how much we need to grow in loving others as You continue to love us faithfully!
Enable each of us, in my church and in all churches everywhere, to experience Your love more fully, and to let it flow out to others around us. May Your Holy Spirit fill us day by day, bringing forth the fresh, abundant fruit of love in our lives. Love that keeps growing richer in knowledge and wise insight, in patience and kindness, in humility that honors the other person. Love that overcomes jealousy and arrogance and self-seeking. Love that is not touchy or resentful or judgmental. Love that covers a multitude of sins and refuses to gossip. Love that chooses to look out for the other person’s interests, as well as our own, whether we feel like it or not. Work in me this beautiful kind of love for all believers and especially for those I find so hard to love and those who tend to rub me the wrong way.
May we constantly show the fragrant love of Christ to one another as we look forward to being together for all eternity. May the world see your love in our lives, and may this draw many to You.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
1 Peter 4:8
When we pray only when we feel like it will greatly hinder faithful and continual prayer. So try not to let conflicting feelings and interests keep you from prayer, say yes to prayer by saying no to other things you feel like doing or feel pressured to do.
