31 Days of Prayer – Day 5

Daily Prayer of Expectancy

02f46-praying2bhandsFather in heaven, great and powerful and full of love, I lift my heart in praise for the privilege of coming to You in prayer. Give me special grace as I join Your exalted Son in His ministry of prayer.

Search my heart, Lord, and show me if any sin is hindering Your work in my life. May I respond without delay whenever You make me conscious of sin. How grateful I am for Your total forgiveness the moment I confess my sin, turning back to You as my Lord!

And Father, teach me to pray. How much I yearn to know Your will and Your way. I thank You that Your Son lives within me. What a joy to know that He is my teacher – that through Him I can learn to pray. I can learn to release Your boundless power for both my needs and the needs of many others, near and far. Teach me to pray.

Day by day may Your Spirit work in me, motivating me to abide in Christ and pray in faith, moving Your mighty hand to fulfill Your purposes. Keep reminding me that You are able to do infinitely more than I would ever dare to ask or imagine, by Your mighty power at work within me.

To You be the glory both now and forever.

Pray About Your Trials and Testings

Father, I worship before You knowing that you are the sovereign God, the Blessed Controller of all things. I know that You always want what is best for me. You always know what is best, and You are able to do what is best for Your obedient, trusting children. Nothing is ever too hard for You.

I rejoice that You promise to cause all things, even things that are contrary to Your ideal will, to fit into a pattern for good for those who love You. And that this “good” includes becoming more like Your Son, Jesus! And that somehow my prayers can make a difference in how things turn out and how much I benefit from all that comes my way. I thank You for Your promise, “Call upon Me in the day of trouble, I will deliver you and you will honor Me.”

Please give me grace, Lord, to be able to trust You in each of my trials, no matter how big or small and to accept each one and learn to cooperate with You so that I will be able to grow through it.

Please guide me as I bring each problem that I have to You, my pressures, my finances, my uncertainties, my disappointments and my failures including my failures in relating to other people. I fully trust You to work in my situations and to give me practical wisdom in how to handle them. And even more, I ask that You work in me. I lack the power and I don’t know what to do, buy my eyes are on You.

Extra Notes

“God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name.” Philippians 2:9

It is only through Jesus’ name that we can freely approach God. This is why he died on the cross to pay the full penalty for all of our sins and make us acceptable again to God. So we must trust in who He is and have the faith that what He did for us. By asking in His name we are free to be true children of God for He is our Intercessor and has prepared a place for us at His table in the great banquet table in His Father’s house.
