Advent – Christ Will Come

Stay awake, that you may be prepared! Matthew 24:44

During Advent we are counting down the days until . . . . Christ will come. It is easy to put aside the expectations of something real like a chance at real life; a life with exciting expectations; a genuine life planned by our creator when the world tells us we should be expecting earnings, good looks, and a better body. Those are the Christmas ads we will see in the marketplace but not the promise of the one whose first coming we will celebrate in a few weeks.

We want to stay awake and be prepared to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provisions for the flesh (Rom 13:14). We want to stay alert because there are too many temptations to take us away from the real life God has planned for us. We are waiting to celebrate the first coming of Christ, who will come again, and will be with us when we make life-changing choices. We are waiting for the genuine source of our joy because we know we will not have lasting joy with tinsel, colored paper, or candy canes. Raise your expectations to new heights because Christ is in you and wants to transform you into the person you were meant to be.
