We Need to Choose the Standards of God and Not Ones of Society

It may not always be easy, but as Christians, we need to do our best to try and live above the moral standards and moral decline of this society. To do so it will involve the choices we make with regard to our own personal conversations, the way we dress, the way we behave, what we read, the TV shows we watch, movies we watch, the music we listen to and so on.  It also means that we need to have a different level of integrity in which we live our personal lives, how we interact with others around us and how we conduct ourselves in our business or our profession.

As Christians it is important that we encourage each other to live by godly standards and to resist the pull of this world and the society around us. There was a quote that really hits home. “Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch  your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

One of the greatest gifts God gave all of mankind was the power of choice. However, if we want to be able to enjoy the blessings that He has for us, then we are going to need to make sure that our lifestyle choices align with His Word and that they are consistent with the values of His Word and not choices that reflect the never ending erosion of the values of this world.

We need to stop and make the decision now to serve God completely and always put Him first in everything we do.

God, I don’t want to live by the world’s standards. I put You first in my life because I know that Your ways are the best.
