We Need to Be Still Before God

One of the most important things we can learn today and probably one of the toughest things to learn is how to be still. Plain and simple. Learning how to still our minds and hearts in this day and age of technology and multi-tasking, we find it tougher and tougher to be still, especially before God.

Probably one of the biggest reasons why so many people are burned out and are stressed out is because we don’t know how to be still. Because of this, we really don’t know God all that well and we don’t acknowledge Him. Only by spending time in our stillness are we going to get to know Him and we then will learn to hear His still, small voice that He directs our way.

It’s important that we learn how to be quiet on the inside and then learn how to stay in this peaceful state of mind so we are always ready to hear the voice of God. Too many people today run from one thing to the next in this busy society that is more concerned about what’s going on around them than what’s going on inside of them where God is trying to reach us. Because of this their minds are unable to be still, something Satan loves to see happen, and they don’t know how to be still in their hearts.

We need to slow down and quiet our minds enough to hear His voice prompting us. When we do that, we can live in a place of peace even in the middle of chaos. When we are in that place of peace we will be ready to respond obediently to what He is asking us to do. Leading a peaceful and happy life is going to help free us from exhaustion and burnout. It really isn’t all that hard to do if we just learn how to remain still before God.

Prayer:

Lord, I recognize that You alone are God. I know that stillness before You is important, so show me how to remain settled and peaceful inside, always ready to hear Your voice.
