One of the devil’s favorite and more cunning weapons he uses on us is distraction. He knows that if we become distracted or sidetracked by the various cares of this world that, we more than likely will start to neglect our time that we have with God.
So in order for us to continue to be faithful and stay in close relationship and communion with Him, God sometimes wants us to remove the distractions that are keeping us from Him, even if it hurts to remove them.
For instance, if our career or desire for money or having a high social status is more important to us than pleasing God, then we need to get our priorities straight. Or it could be a relationship that is keeping us from spending time with God and we are looking toward that person for their attention and approval more than Gods. What it all boils down to is that any situation or any desire that we have in our lives keeps us from being led by the Holy Spirit or living for our God, then it is an unhealthy distraction that simply is not good for us.
God so wants us to be moved by His Spirit not by outside distractions. So, consider taking time today and setting aside some of your distractions in your life and then purposely focus on God. For when we seek God first with our whole heart, will will find Him. He’s always there waiting for us, no matter what.
Lord, I ask You to help me remove all of the distractions in my life, even if it hurts. Help me to seek You above all else and be led by the Holy Spirit in my daily life. I want to live for You!
