Fully Relying On God

frog_smEvery time that we feel frustrated and at the end of our rope, it probably means that we’ve stopped fully relying on God. This might sound like a harsh statement but stop and think about it for a minute or two. God has given all of us His Holy Spirit and His grace to help us make it through anything that happens to come our way. When frustration hits and takes over that is when we stop depending on Him and we try to make things happen OUR way. And doing it OUR way is the WRONG way. “I Did it My Way.” Sorry Sinatra, that just doesn’t cut it.

Every time you become frustrated about something, stop and remind yourself that what you are really doing is trying to take the place of the Holy Spirit. It’s like trying to become Holy Spirit Junior!

Do you happen to struggle with an independent spirit? Well, when you refuse to depend on God, you basically are saying to God, “Okay, look God, I appreciate that You are around, but just watch me do this.” When you depend on God for everything, it may seem difficult, however, it’s the key to the victory that we really need each and every day of our lives.

When God decided to save us, He didn’t just help us and then say, “OK, that’s it. Now you are on your own guys!” He has eternally saved us, and that means if we depend on Him, He is going to guide us and help us always.

Galations 5:16 encourages us to “…walk and live habitually in the Holy Spirit…then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh”…Notice it does not say “conquer the flesh independently…then you will certainly not gratify the desires of the flesh.” No, it tells us that we need to live in the Holy Spirit.

So, now is the time to stop living independently, Fully Rely On God and you definitely not regret doing so!

Prayer:

God, You are all I need. Help me not to trust in myself, but to fully trust in You and rely only on You.

Amen
