“I am Oz, the great and terrible,” the wizard’s face roared over the flames. “Who are you, whippersnapper?” “I am Dorothy, the small and meek,” she replied. Is that how you might visualize your interactions when you dare trying to speak with God?
God doesn’t merely tolerate your “interruptions” in His daily business. He doesn’t resent your requests. In fact, He welcomes them. He commands them. In fact, He tips His hand and lets you know that He is pre-inclined to say yes to you. Here is Jesus’ challenge: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he wo seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7,8)
We are not aliens or strangers in God’s presence anymore. Through our faith in Jesus Christ we are now family. We belong there. So, we need to act like we belong there. We need to be bold when we pray. Claim our blood bought identity. We are not irritating God with our chutzpah. We are honoring His invitation and promise when we talk to Him.
So, what do you need right now? Go for it! Ask! Seek! Knock! He’s waiting!
