The Power of the Cross

Have you ever been insulted or made fun of because of your beliefs in the Cross? You know, when people believe that they can earn their way to heaven, they belittle Gods wisdom. When people believe that they can save themselves, the thought of God coming in human form, dying on a Cross, and rising from the dead to provide them forgiveness seems foolish to them.

The_Crucifixion033Remember that Paul warns us of this in 1 Corinthians: “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18)

The Cross can and does transform lives. He himself bore our sins in His body on that Cross, so that we might be able to die to sin and live for righteousness; by His wounds we have been healed. “For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” (1 Peter 2:24-25)

If we didn’t have the Cross, there would be no forgiveness of sins, there would be no salvation. There would be no relief from our guilt, there would be no peace of mind and there would be no eternal life with God in heaven. We need to thank God today for His precious and amazing gift of eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

“Having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; He took it away, nailing it to the Cross.”

Colossians 2:14

God, thank You for the transforming power of the Cross. Thank You for the costly gift of eternal life with You in heaven.
