“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.”
All too often we forget just how harmful or how uplifting words from our mouths can be. It is important that we try to think before we speak and ask for the help of the Holy Spirit especially in times where there might be tension or adversity because even if the person you may be speaking to is speaking ungracious words to us, does not mean that we too much return with the same words. Yes, it’s hard to do, and I struggle with it on a daily basis, but it can be done. At lease if no gracious words can be found to say, either say nothing or walk away.
We also need to watch what we say to friends and loved ones, we can’t allow a fleeting moment of anger get in the way of the words that we say to those we love. Words sting and to the core with a lot of people and we need to understand just how the words that come from our mouths affect others. Words can kill just as easily as they can heal and uplift the souls of those around us.
